Fishing into the Future (FitF) is a unique charity, set up by fishermen for fishermen and operating at the cutting edge of fishermen-led data collection and training in the UK. Working to drive sustainability, innovation and prosperity in large and small-scale fisheries alike, FitF came to MWC for support in building an engaged network of contacts online, through a range of social media platforms, and through the delivery of a concise, targeted digest of sector news - delivered to followers every other month.
As well as supporting FitF with their social media and newsletters, MWC also help to create engaging, informative and motivational documentaries. MWC worked closely with filmmaker, Nina Constable, to create a film that follows the journey of a father and son, Mark and Adam Robertson, as they embark on their journey into the Business of Fishing. The Business of Fishing course is designed to provide working fishermen with new insights into both the structure of the industry and open up opportunities so they can actively engage with the formal science and management of fisheries. The film connects personally to the realities of life as fishermen and shows what training could bring to the fishing industry from a fishermen’s from perspective.
